We reached the location the droid was supposedly lost.  I continued to research while Terranova scanned the sector.  It took a little bit but we found it and Slash used the Ship Arms to bring it in.

Terranova is taking care of the droid.

I made another 16 observations chasing down the apparent nonrandomness.
