We have 19 veggie packs, 7 meat packs, and 8 bamboo packs. We are continuing to observe.
More asteroids, more random vectors. None of them were in large clumps today. We’ve got 52 of the 78 observations we were tasked with getting. I’m keeping an eye on the food to ensure that we have enough to make it to Wavecrest.
Terranova came to sit with me in the Observation Deck towards the end of the day. It was just the two of us and they struck up a conversation. She commented on the asteroids and mentioned her friend, a Terry Plunkett, that had been kind to them. Then she asked if I would be willing to oil her joints and check her skin today. I didn’t think much of it, so I said yes. She brought me the oil, which had been warmed. She opened the skin around her arms so that I could easily get the oil injected into the joints. Then I inspected the skin to check for rips and helped wrap it around the limbs. When I was done she cuddled against me. That was when I realized this was more serious than just helping a crewmate. I asked her how seriously I should take this. She told me that I should call her Terranova. As for how serious, well, I’m a human and she is a mechanical. She could live the better part of forever. She likes me and wants to stay with me for the rest of my life. Apparently she thinks I’m kind and helpful. She also doesn’t think of this as an exclusive thing. It is what I mean to her rather than a thing between us.
We sat together as we finished the observations.
