Star Date – 1036.7.12
Location – B2,R2 – Ruin
I was very pleased when the Deepdelves gave us a 65 nubuck tip on
top of their fare.
As I was looking over the ship to check out the damage caused by the
Gigameg when I was interrupted by a badly injured giant collapsing at our
airlock. I brought it into the hold
where I was able to treat its injuries.
From its signing we learned that it is the only member of its delve crew
to escape a nearby delve. It rather
desperately asked us to go into the ruin to save its friends.
Jerry and Onyx will stay with the ship. Bo would like to remain, but we need a
linguist to communicate with any systems that happen to be active. Zelda and Link returned to the ship as we
were preparing and demanded to join the delve.
Rescue
Delve
The Giant led us to a grand building with big doors. When we entered Zelda commented that it
almost looked like a palace. This is a
great room with a high ceiling and a tattered ruin of a rug running the length
to absolutely massive doors at the far end.
On either side there are two large but less grand doors. We went to the door immediately to our left,
but found it locked. We will need to
watch for a key.
We proceeded clockwise around the room to the next door. The security system is active and asks
something. Bo answered
successfully. It asked if it was day
yet; an odd question that I noted for the xenoarcheologists. The room is empty though the muck along the
sides suggests something was placed next to the walls.
We exited and went to the Grand Doorway. This is a grand room with mighty pillars
running the length and ending in a high dais.
It looks like there is something stored on the dais. We found one of the giants injured and
leaning against a pillar near the door.
I was able to patch them up and we shifted them into the prior room,
which seems to be safe. They warned us
that the treasures on the dais are protected by a nasty security system. We went over to look at them, but elected not
to even try to take them since we don’t want to deal with the security system.
We went around this second room trying the room clockwise from the
Grand door at 6. As we entered we saw
one of the giants lying injured against the wall of the throne room and a nasty-looking
weird mantis threatening them. When it
saw our packs it attacked. Link drew his
sword and deflected the first attack, which gave everyone else the chance to draw
their weapons.
Link is a nightmare of a fighter.
The scavenger took a swing at Bo only to be intercepted by Link, who was
moving faster than I could track. The
two major things I am sure of is that he took the mantis’s arm off and caused
it to lose its belt and pack. It stood
there wobbling stunned for maybe half a second before running up the outside
wall and leaping out the window. I went
to help the giant while Terranova went through the pack. We found 105 nubucks in the pack along with
something that might have been food.
This may have been an office at one point, though we didn’t see any
further valuables.
We helped the giant into the front room to sit with his friend and
he signed his thanks.
Then we went to the next room on that wall. This room may have been a lounge or sitting
room. Slash noticed that the remnants of
the rug covered a small hiding place. We
found a lovely little jeweled box in the hole.
We crossed the throne room and entered the room across from the
sitting room. There we found another
xenoarcheologist who had been spending several cycles copying the carvings
across all the walls here. He recognized
that we’d been helping the xenoarcheologists, so he offered to help us for a
bit, to give his wrists a chance to rest.
There is a door to an area behind the throne so we entered
it. It was a terribly sad place. It was probably a bed room and it was full of
signs that the person that lived here loved little things. There weren’t any valuables, just the
reminder that these ruins had once been ordinary places.
We returned to the throne room and entered the room further
clockwise. There was a partially
collapsed ceiling that had resulted in a partially collapsed floor. With the help of the xenoarcheologist we were
able to cross to explore the room, which seemed to be either storage or a room
for guards to wait.
We exited and returned to the first room. Then we went to the door further clockwise
from the Great Door. There we found
another mantis scavenger menacing a third giant. It moved to attack, but then dropped it’s
pack and went up the wall and out when it saw our weapons. We found 85 nubucks in the pack and then
helped the guard out to the main room.
The last door was locked ending the Delve.
As we were leaving the ruin Ganondorf showed up and tried to grab
Zelda. Terranova tripped him before Link
could draw his sword. She managed to
smack Ganondorf in the face at least three times as he went down. Link and Zelda slipped off as I explained to
him that I did not want him inconveniencing my passengers. He went off the other direction grumbling.
We helped the giants out of the ruin and over to the main facility
to recover. Jerry had helped the other
there earlier. Then we thanked Link and
Zelda for their help. We offered to give
them the spoils, but Zelda turned it down, suggesting that we give the
valuables to the xenoarcheologists.
We sold our information to the xenoarcheologists and the other
delvers which got us 1000 nubucks.
That evening after most folks had gone to bed Link asked about my
relationship with Terranova. I described
us as partners, it was a relationship neither of us had expected when I bought
the ship Terranova was tied to, but it worked well. Link thanked me and wished me good night.
