Log of the Celestial Diviner

Now that I’m done with the party planning class I’ve got time to talk to the potential new crewmates.  There were three options.

Horsace was a human size rock pile with glowy photosensitive pits for eyes and a rough crackly voice.  He had trouble telling Slash from Dee and didn’t seem to care that much.  He also noticeably raised the temperature of the room.  If he joins we will need to lower the ship temperature.

Quicksilver seemed to be made of mercury.  They are nonverbal, so the interview was handled through Trade Sign.  They know it, but expressed doubts about it’s adequacy.

Fred is a large tick.  He drinks blood and is quite willing to drain crewmates if it is offered.  He was also surprisingly down.  Seemed to regret not being able to drink the study animals dry.

Mooington joined us as a passenger who knows enough xenozoology to get the conversations started.  None of them were great.

When the candidates had left we thanked Mooington and had a long discussion.  Eventually we settled on the idea that we won’t bring any of them into the crew.  We’ll see about finding someone when we reach Progress, which will be before most of the xenozoology research we have any way.

I did sort out the paperwork while Dee was there.  She’s pleased to join the crew and is going to stay with her friend until we’ve got the bunks installed on the Nebula’s Grace.
